Turkish Slippers

New slippers for my darlings...

Of course, these are "Company Slippers" and may only be worn when we have guests.

"Daily Slippers" will continue to be worn throughout the day. We refrained from posting as they would have made a rather unworthy photo.

They are beautiful! Are slippers worn instead of shoes in the house? I have been trying to keep shoes off of our floor w/ a little one running around but I'm not sure if it is worth the effort b/c we have a dog (who does not wear shoes!) that runs in & out. I'm also not keen on asking people to take off their shoes when they come to visit my home. How neat if everyone just had special shoes to wear inside a home. Do people bring slippers with them when they come to visit?

Is there a reason behind the red balls on the toes or is it just a favorite decoration of the turkish?

No one wears shoes inside the home. The hostess would be horrified. Usually slippers are worn depending on how warm the house is. Our house is cold since it is heated by a single coal stove. Usually the hostess provides slippers for the guests. These are traditional Turkish slippers, not usually worn these days. I have no idea if the red ball signifies anything.

Did you take your shoes off when you lived in Canada ? That is very custom here and I now do it totally out of habit. (0= I love the slippers ! I wanted to make my Hubby and ds's slippers for Christmas but I am running out of time so I don't know if it will happen or not. Otherwise we have socked feet if not bare feet , lol. Ooo...I can't decide if I like the blue ones the best or the mult-colored ones the best. I think I'd have to go with the blue ones! :)
