Ooooh, we so wanted to do this! We are still going to go this weekend, but costumes just weren't possible this year. However, I will show DOB your picture and we will pretend. :-D
We really enjoyed the movie! My husband especially liked it-and it takes a lot to impress him. It was closer to the book than the LOTR movies. My only two criticisms were that there were too many over the top special effects. It became unreal when everyone escaped death in unbelievable ways, over and over again. I felt it took away from the original realistic storyline, imo. My second beef was that there were so many nasty orc scenes in this one movie. Really gross. Personally, I wouldn't let my six year old watch it. Not only because of the violence, but because the story is so rich, a six year old will not understand the deeper conversation. I don't want my kids to miss the main themes and so I make them wait. We let our ten year old son watch it with us (after reading the book) and I felt we were pushing the limits.
The Hobbit opening??? :D You guys look AWESOME! :)
ReplyDeleteHow was it, btw? :)

ReplyDeleteWould you say the movie is appropriate for a 6 and 11-year-old?
