I'm Not Weird, but I Do Weird Things

Jeanne tagged me awhile back and I am just now getting around to answering this important, educational survey. Here it is. I am supposed to reveal seven weird things about
myself.
1. I eat ketchup on my cornbread.
2. I don't like loud noises.
3. I don't like to talk on the phone.
4. I don't like to try new things.
5. I've been thrust into social situations all my life, but I prefer to be alone.
6. I like to laugh but when I hear other people tell jokes I usually don't think the
punchline is very funny. (Isn't that awful?)
7. My oldest daughter said, "The number one weird thing about Mom is that there is nothing weird about Mom."

I know that wasn't very interesting but even with my dear family's help, we couldn't think of anything else. I guess I am pretty boring. BUT, I have done some very interesting, weird things so I thought I'd share those too so that at least you'd get your money's worth today from visiting this blog. ;- )

1. I have wade-fished among alligators and even had one run between my legs.
2. I almost stepped on a giant snapping turtle.
3. I've been bear hunting and white water rafting.
4. I've fallen through the ice on a frozen lake.
5. I've eaten porcupine, beaver, octopus, moose, bear, and even frog legs that my brother speared while we were on a hunting expedition together at the age of ten. (They taste like chicken, by the way.)
6. I was chased by bandits while visiting a leper colony in India.
7. I almost drowned while snorkeling because I got trapped under a boat. (Don't worry, I survived.)

Well, there are far too many 'I's' in this post so I think I need to end this. I hope you have been sufficiently entertained today and please consider yourself tagged.

Don't worry, you are far from boring. I also like to be alone more than with people. You experienced one of my greatest fears, falling through the ice on a frozen or not so frozen lake. I even like winter, actually it is my second favorite season after fall.

  2. I joined in on the silliness after reading this. We actually have a few "weird" things in common. Come on over and read my entry if you want to!

  4. Aw, I don't think you are all that wierd - actually you sound a lot like me (except I haven't done many of the wierd things you've done). I love the silly picture. Is that really you?!

  5. I've eaten a lot of freaky things, too. I think you have me beat, though. I've eaten alligator, frog legs, snails, squid, eel, and snake. Sorry, but I draw the line there. No turtle, bear, beaver or octopus. :p Yuck. I guess if you are in the wilderness, you eat what you have to. They eat a lot of squirrel here in Arkansas. Kind of freaky if you ask me. Now I can't make fun of my FIL for being the only one I knew alive that has eaten squirrel and claims to have enjoyed it. ;)

Is that really you in the photo? I have to know. How long ago was it taken? :) I am bad at not laughing at my kids' jokes, too. :( Poor things. Hope they don't grow up with a complex.

  6. Oh dear, No. The little lady in the pic is not me. If you click on it, you can find the source. I'm a wee bit older than her. ;- )

LOL! Great picture (even if it isnt you!) I found your blog today via Sprittibee, and have enjoyed my visit! I am new in my homeschooling journey and will be back to find inspiration along the way!

    Thanks for sharing :)

  8. My, you have lived a bit of an exciting life. Chased by bandits? Now that's a story I wouldn't mind hearing! We used to have a cat who would catch frogs and ONLY eat the legs. I think she was a bit of a gourmet!

  9. Well, for not liking to try new things you sure have succeeded in doing an awful lot of things!

I don't like talking on the phone either.

And- I would *love* to hear more about your visit to the leper colony. Have you ever read PAIN: The Gift Nobody Wants, by Paul Brand and Phillip Yancey? Such an amazing book about Brand's work with lepers. I've never forgotten it.

    Blessings to you today,
    Stacy
