They can cover world history, however, in Year 6. You would somehow need to cover some American colonization (If you are an American) and the US revolution. You can cheat a little and use some historical fiction and D'Aulaire books to do this, but don't cram. You could just read excerpts from TCOO. They won't cover US history again until year 9 but they need to be familiar with some main events before then so that they can better understand their other schoolbooks, literature and our present culture.

Toodlebugz,
Help me out a little. Are they all in various years or together for History? Are you planning on putting them together in the same year, if so, what year? If not, what years? All those details are important for me to be able to address your question more carefully. Regarding history, what if I were to use your list of books and history rotation starting in the 3rd grade; would my child have lost a lot of history knowledge not having studied the history you list in Year 1 and 2? (Although n year 1, we did use A Child's History of the World and completed the whole book that year.) -CMgirlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28260135.post-21482976124959548222009-04-14T11:30:00.000-05:002009-04-14T11:30:00.000-05:00The kids awoke to an empty tomb and a butterfly in...The kids awoke to an empty tomb and a butterfly in the tree beside it.
