Imagination Equation

One house without toys
+ one yard
+ a pile of old logs
+ a piece of rope
+ a bored child
+ an obstinate mother
(who won't let bored child come into the house)
+ an unabridged Robinson Crusoe =

"Fairy tales do not tell children that dragons exist.
Children already know that.
Fairy tales tell children that dragons can be killed."
~ G.K. Chesterton

one step at a time...

  1. Love it!

I'm currently reading Last Child in the Woods, and my son and I have been reading Swiss Family Robinson.

    LOVE the quote!

  2. Looks like a lot of fun!

Glad you made it to the States safely. Hope you are settling in OK.

  3. Beautiful blog! I really am enjoying it. May I link to it from mine? Here's mine so you can peruse it first.

  4. Oh Linda... How wonderful.

Hahaaaa... + an obstinate mother (who won't let bored child come into the house)
Well, we all have to play our parts, don't we? Sometimes our part is to make them have fun instead of letting "be bored".

Loved the pictures. Loved the post.
Thanks for the warm smile and another peek into your real home learning! :)

    Welcome Home:-)
I just dropped by to see how all your transition is going.

Our family is in Peru for the next month and I know about traveling for 24 hours with no sleep. Good Times!
    Peace to you and yours.

  11. I love it!
    You've got me smiling.
    Kid's imaginations are limitless!

  12. I love these too. I've been looking over your curriculum quite often lately - trying to decide what to do next year. Thanks so much for sharing!

  13. Hi there Mrs.
I finally got a blogger comment box open, and it was YOURS!!, so I thought I'd leave a comment. I love this post. Made me laugh. Thinking your kids always makes me smile because I know their true heart for make the most out of anything they are given.... including making a really cool boat out of a bunch of logs. My little sibs would have a blast with you, dd3! ; )

  14. It looks like they had lots of fun! I think it would be really nice to have a house with no toys... Of course, my children disagree with me. Do you miss Turkey? Are you settling in well?
