Wildflower Walk

Even a weed is a thing of beauty. I was quite blind to this blessing until I learned to see. There is a field about ten steps away from our kitchen door. It is filled with trash and broken bottles and weeds. But today, while on a nature walk, we found beautiful little wildflowers growing wherever they could find a spot. Here are a few of them.

Alpine Pasque flowers Cistus

Wild Thyme

Wild Rose hip

Haven't identified this one yet.

Not quite wild, but the seeds had blown down from someone's balcony into the field below. We dug them up and potted them.

A beautiful pea vine.

May weed and red clover

Throughout the year, and especially in the spring and summer, I try to keep a bouquet of wildflowers in the house. Today while drinking afternoon tea, this was a comfort to me.

    Beautiful Linda!

I'll keep an eye out for wildflowers here. There aren't too many wildflowers in the mowed lawns of our suburbia. But God has suprised us before!

    Blessings,
    Betty

  2. Hi Lindafay
This was such a pretty post! I looked up 'weed' in the dictionary, and it says.. 'a wild plant that grows were it is not wanted'.
Yes.... to some, the weeds may not be wanted there, to others (such as yourself)they were seen as a beautiful blessing!
    Thanks for sharing!

  5. I love flowers passionately. Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos!

Our lawn is more of a dandelion patch than actual grass, but I, for one, think that the dandelions are beautiful. They are such a bright, sunny, cheerful yellow. And, I have to admit, NOTHING can get them down! Not vinegar, not dandelion-killer, nothing!

"Weed" is definitely a subjective term!

  6. Beautiful~ thanks for sharing your wildflowers with us. Wild roses remind me of growing up on the prairies in Alberta. I've been known to stop by the side of the road and collect their buds, string them with some beads, and make a head wreath that dries beautifully. Maybe something your girls would enjoy! Bless you,
    Rebeca

Hey Linda.....did you read my blog about avoiding burnout? Taking a mom's nature walk was one of my suggestions. And you did an AWESOME job of documenting your walk!
