Homer is My Neighbor

This past summer we visited Ancient Troy, the setting for Homer’s Epic THE ILIAD. It is located on the Aegean Coast. The children especially enjoyed climbing up into a model of the infamous wooden horse. (right click on the pics to see a larger size)

We actually live where an ancient Roman settlement used to be. We often wonder what lies beneath our feet buried in the ground where we picnic and play. Just a mile from our home is an old grove with the pillars still standing from an ancient Roman temple. It hasn’t been excavated yet, but the locals have taken away all that they could find. Our children go there to play. We DO enjoy living in the Cradle of Ancient Civilization.
