The Joy of Giving

During the Christmas holidays, our children’s aunt gave them $150 to spend on someone in need. We have been praying and waiting for direction. A few days ago we visited a family down the hill from us. They live just outside our village and are one of the poorest families we know. Their house has only three small rooms and a kitchen the size of a closet. While helping her serve tea, I observed that she did not own an oven and was cooking the food on a little single burner flame over a small propane canister. Her washing machine was broken as well and my heart really went out to her. She is a good friend of mine and has a noble character. Yesterday our family went to the market area and bought her a little countertop oven with a four-burner stove on top. We did not want the family to know that we gave it to them so my husband sneaked over after dark and put it on their doorstep, rang the bell and ran. LOL!

What a charitable thing to do. It's so important for parents to teach their children about volunteerism and donationing. Your post is so inspiring and warm. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

I am adding you to my favorites; I am doing an assignment for school and was researching Home schooling when I found your blog. Thanks for sharing, my girls enjoyed your beautiful pictures and heartfelt words. I am happy and touched to see that there are mom's looking out for other mom's. I applaud your journeys. Once again thanks for sharing.
